Chutes Provincial Park
Chutes Provincial Park

Chutes Provincial Park is the only one on Highway 17 between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie.

Chutes is an excellent stopover for travelers and a good base to explore the North Channel of Lake Huron. Situated on the Aux Sables River, the park gets its name from a chute that once diverted logs around the waterfall.  Follow riverside nature trails to see rapids upstream.

The rapids and picturesque waterfalls of the Aux Sables River are the highlights of this recreation park. The region's historic importance as a logging centre is still seen in the composition of the sand along the beach.
If you pick up a handful of sand, you'll see that it contains bits of bark, the scrapings of thousands of logs that came through the river's rapids.
